Villarreal imposed their will on Burriana (0-4) during the second friendly of the preseason, showing good chemistry and order, Julio Velazquez's men dominated the entire match with goals from Manu Trigueros, Bruno, Uche and Gerard Moreno in the second half. Villarreal will play the next match on Wednesday at Huesca (El Alcoraz, 7 PM) for their third warm-up match.
Villarreal were in control of the match from the first whistle. With a strong first 11 on the field, the Yellows took control of the midfield from the start, making it real difficult for Burriana. Exploiting the gaps, the Yellows continuously attacked the back four to limited success, until Manu Trigueros beat the keeper with a low shot from the edge of the area that flew to the right of the diving Ruben.
After the goal, Burriana were able to gain a little more possession, but the Yellows defended really well, giving Burriana little opportunities. In the 36th minute, Bruno extended the lead (0-2) after Javi Venta made a great run down the right, cutting into the box and centering for Bruno to finish from close range. It was only a few moments later when Uche, on his scoring debut, added a third after gaining control from a cross.
The second half was much more relaxed, but the Yellow possession remained the same. Around the 68th minute, Juame Costa showed great vision with a deep cross that found Gerard Moreno all alone. The Barcelonan rounded the keeper before finishing at an acute angle.
Villarreal showed no signs of slowing as both Juame Costa and Gerard Moreno had chances to add to the score sheet, but Ruben came up trumps both times to keep the score at 0-4.
In the end, it was a comfortable victory for Villarreal as they dominated the midfield, leading to many scoring opportunities while keeping the home side at bay.
